The very first thing we decide is what kind of photography session are you wanting and why?
For me, a portrait session is a session where you are looking for that one perfect image, that is beautifully styled and captured and will be displayed as unique portrait Art in your home. A visual statement. Much attention is paid to the details, the styling, hair, makeup, backdrop, or locations, often with the use of studio lighting and fine art editing. This style of session takes a lot longer and requires more detail.
A storytelling session on the other hand - is exactly that - images that convey a story, your story, your life, your newborn, your children, the way they play, and see the world, the way they hold your hand, or how they glance at you…it is these emotional and playful moments I am capturing to ultimately put into an album that shares a life story or journey or passion. Many images come from these sessions because even the smallest details are beautiful!
Almost as important as quality and expertise is to find a photographer who has a style that resonates with you and your life. We will take some time to think about the styles of images you are looking for. Do you want outdoor or indoor (either classic and simple or with props for some shots) or do you want outdoor (lifestyle or styled). Where you will display your images and what you looking to accomplish with them (i.e family memories, portfolio, magazine editorial?)
My goal is to create a relaxed, pressure-free environment for you and your children. I want to capture your children in the most beautiful way I know how. We will discuss how to prepare for the session during our pre-session meeting or if you prefer via phone. I will do my best to customize your session to your personal needs. Whether it be scheduling a morning session for fresh and rested kids or an evening shoot to get that gorgeous golden light in your images. Sessions generally will last from 1 to 2 hours depending on the location and type of portraiture you choose.
This is probably the number one question I get asked before a photo shoot. It can be pretty confusing to decide what outfits would be best for your photography session... but don't worry! The best outfit for every session is to dress in timeless and classic looks that will last through the years. For a classic look, choose a soft colour palette, earthy colours. Sticking to timeless looks will let your personalities shine through. However, if you want a fine art session and want to use trendy, rich colours, it's your choice and either way, we can make a beautiful photo. Collaborations with vendors are also an option with styling. I also work with a wonderful stylist who can create a beautiful look for any child or family!

Narrative sessions are lightly edited and are very true to the location, people and environment. Ideal for children, maternity, mother and child, seniors, dancers and families! Light Editing is applied which is classic and true to life!

A visual statement. Much attention is paid to the fine details, the set design, the clothing styling, hair, makeup, backdrop, or locations, often with the use of studio lighting and fine art editing. In this style of session, you don't want to rush, you want to enjoy the moment, the luxury and the final image!
These are ideal for Fine Art Portraits, beauty portraits, mother and child portraits, commercial headshots and Editorial portraits.
Portrait Sessions receive full hi-end editing and color grading - Images are often discussed prior to full editing.
All studio sessions are $300
They generally can take up to 4 hours depending on the vision.
