Life is filled with Dreams,

Dreams give our life meaning and inspire us to change.

We dream about change and improvement,

we set goals, seemingly impossible goals,

goals which challenge us,

and we dream about the future,

when we will reach our goals,

when our lives will change for the better.

Without our dreams,

Life and humanity

would be hopelessly dull.

Investing in ourselves is the most important thing we can do as photographers. From gear to software to websites to learning, investing in ourselves is a continuing process. A wonderful investment we can make as a photographer, if we shoot portraits, is participating in styled photography shoots. The benefits of participating in a styled photoshoot can reap rewards that are everlasting.

Firstly - what is a styled photography shoot?

In a styled Editorial photo shoot, several industries come together outside the realm of an actual shoot to create a series of images, that we can share and show our skills. Those industries include models, clothing vendors (gowns and accessories), gown designers, hair and makeup artists, jewelers, cake vendors, party venues, photographers, and sometimes even videographers.

The first thing I did before reaching out to other creatives was I created a vision board, via Pinterest for my idea. This helped everyone know what the concept was and this made the planning allot easier. Everyone understood the concept of the look and this made things easier for the florist, jewelers, hair, and makeup team. Finding and styling the locations and venue was also easier.

Try to incorporate as many vendors as possible and have a wide range of creative fields.

A few of the vendors have been published before. Editorial Editors and for social media love it when there are a large number of vendors to highlight and show their readers/followers.
